About getlawyer.now
getlawyer.now points people to public lawyer referral services and free legal help. It does nothing else.
getlawyer.now is not a law firm and not a lawyer referral service, and nothing here is legal advice. Using this site doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship. We don’t collect your story, don’t match you with lawyers, and take no payment from lawyers, law firms or referral services.
Who runs it
getlawyer.now is published by Freedom Gateway LLC, a small independent US company that runs a handful of single-topic websites. We are not lawyers and not a law firm. The pages are written and checked by our editorial team from what bar associations, the American Bar Association and the Legal Services Corporation publish, and every page links to its sources.
Why we are not a referral service
Lawyer referral is regulated. Under the ABA’s Model Rule 7.2, which most states have adopted in some form, lawyers generally may not pay anyone for recommending them, with exceptions that include the usual charges of a not-for-profit or qualified lawyer referral service. Many states also regulate who may operate a referral service. So this site:
- doesn’t take your story, contact details or case information (there are no forms);
- doesn’t recommend, rank or match you with any lawyer or firm;
- doesn’t accept payment, advertising or referral fees from lawyers, law firms, referral services or legal plans; and
- has no ratings, reviews or attorney counts, because we have none to show.
How the site is paid for
It isn’t. There are no ads or affiliate links. Freedom Gateway LLC covers the cost.
Editorial standards
- Official sources only. State and local bar associations, the ABA, the Legal Services Corporation, LawHelp.org and courts.
- Every state link checked. We load each state bar page and confirm what it offers; where a bar doesn’t run a statewide service, we say so.
- Reviewed regularly. All links and facts were last reviewed in November 2026. Bar websites move often; we re-check at least twice a year.
Corrections
If a link is broken or something is wrong, email [email protected]. Please don’t send details of your legal problem: we can’t help with it and won’t pass it on. Contact a referral service or legal aid instead.
